Modern life is full of rush, hassles, deadlines, frustrations and demands. We all deal with stress on a daily basis. It’s unavoidable. Minimizing it is something we should work on every day. In small doses, it helps us stay focused, energetic and alert, as well as perform under pressure, rise to meet challenges and motivate us to do our best. But when stress becomes overwhelming, it can damage our health, mood, productivity and life quality.

Stress is usually perceived as a negative situation or emotion. The good news is that stress isn’t what happens to us, but our response to it. This means that stress can be managed. There are a lot of things which cause stress and they vary from person to person. Stress can come from anywhere: school, work, friends, family, etc. If we’re less stressed, we’ll be able to sleep better, have more positive outlook on life and enjoy it much more.

Kelly McGonigal, a heath psychologist in this TED talk talks about our wrong way of perceiving stress and how our beliefs about stress matter to our health. She reveals a new, harmless side of it. Enjoy!
